Translation Guidelines
Keep the tone consistent
Keep the tone consistent
Prism Launcher uses a friendly but professional tone. Try to match this style in your translations rather than being overly formal or too casual.
Preserve formatting and placeholders
Preserve formatting and placeholders
Many strings contain special formatting like
%1, {0}, or HTML tags. Make sure these are preserved in your translation:%1- Placeholder for dynamic content (keep as-is){variable}- Variable names (keep as-is)<b>text</b>- HTML formatting (translate the text, keep the tags)
Consider context
Consider context
Weblate shows context for most strings. Use this to understand where the text appears in the application. A word might need different translations depending on whether it’s a button label, menu item, or longer description.
Stay concise for UI elements
Stay concise for UI elements
Button labels and menu items should be short and clear. If the English text is brief, try to keep your translation similarly concise to ensure it fits in the UI.
Don't translate technical terms inconsistently
Don't translate technical terms inconsistently
Some technical terms like “instance”, “modpack”, or “Java” may have established translations in your language’s gaming/tech community. Use these standard terms for consistency.
